About Me

jo red gtr smile good Welcome! Here’s a little bit about my career.

I’ve been a professional singer and guitarist since I was fifteen years old, starting at Disneyland, playing one of their famous Hootenanny Nights in the 60s with a folk group called The Fourmost. At nineteen, I  cofounded The Burbage Theater in Hermosa Beach, CA and decades later became a television commercial actress, most noted Home Depot spots. Writing books also came later, starting with my poetry book that I self-published in 2009 and completed writing my memoir, “Hometown Beauty Queen” this year, in 2013.

Some fun musical adventures include playing in a bluegrass band in Montie Montana Jr.’s Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Jakarta, Indonesia, singing backup for Iron Butterfly in the “20 Years After: Woodstock Reunion Concert,” winning Nashville’s Music Row Magazine’s Discovery Award for my CD Hometown Beauty Queen; opening act for Billy Preston, Sawyer Brown, and Lee Greenwood, singing on radio and television commercials and cowriting songs placed in television movies.

My inspiration for writing the title song for my cd, followed by my book, “Hometown Beauty Queen” came from the combined experience of winning the titles of Miss Inglewood, Miss Los Angeles County, and Second Runner-up to Miss California – the year I turned eighteen.

I was honored with a Drama-Logue Award for Most Outstanding Performance as the lead in Death of a Miner and graduated cum laude from Long Beach State University with a BA in Theater Arts.
